Bryson Expands Midwest Presence Through Acquisition of Altruis Benefit Consulting
Partnership supports Altruis’ continued growth while providing Bryson with a platform for further expansion throughout the Midwest
Long Beach, Calif — October 1, 2026 — Bryson today announced the acquisition of Altruis Benefit Consulting, a Michigan-based health insurance distribution organization serving independent insurance professionals and their clients. The transaction is an important step in Bryson’s expansion and establishes a stronger presence for the company in the Midwest. Altruis will continue operating under the Altruis brand, with its existing leadership team and employees remaining focused on serving its producers, carrier partners and clients.
“Altruis has built a strong business based on long-standing relationships with independent producers and health insurance carriers,” said Trent Bryson, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bryson. “Our objective is to build upon what has made Altruis successful. We want to support the team with additional capital, technology, marketing capabilities and resources that can help accelerate its growth.”
Altruis provides independent insurance professionals with carrier access, contracting, licensing, compliance support, product education, enrollment assistance and commission administration. The company has a significant presence in Michigan’s health insurance market and supports producers across the individual, Medicare and group health markets.
Rick Emig, COO, will continue leading the day-to-day operations of Altruis. “We see a significant opportunity to build upon the foundation Rick and the Altruis team have established,” Trent Bryson said. “We intend to invest in producer recruitment, technology and expanded carrier and product relationships while preserving the independent platform that producers value. We believe that combination can make Altruis an increasingly important distribution partner for both insurance professionals and carriers.”
The acquisition also gives Bryson a platform from which to expand its insurance footprint throughout the Midwest. Bryson intends to pursue additional growth organically and through strategic partnerships and acquisitions while continuing to invest in Altruis and its producer network.
“Our long-term vision is larger than a single transaction,” Trent Bryson said. “We believe there is a major opportunity to build a leading insurance distribution platform in the Midwest by partnering with strong operators, investing in their businesses and providing the resources necessary to grow. Altruis is an important foundation for that strategy.”
Bryson expects to support continued investment in technology, data and marketing capabilities designed to simplify the producer experience, identify new growth opportunities and help independent insurance professionals grow their businesses.
“I also want to personally thank Chris Burden and the team at Fifth Third Bank for their partnership and support throughout this transaction,” Trent Bryson said. “Chris has been a valued partner to Bryson, and we appreciate Fifth Third’s continued support as we expand our business.”
Oak Stream Partners and Ryan Addis also assisted Bryson in connection with the transaction.
